NOTE:  The first week of the program is dedicated to familiarization with equipment and safety. On-water instruction begins week 2. The students will average four days per week of on-water instruction, weather permitting. When they are not on the water the students will take part in various on-land activities. Included will be active and quiet games as well as a structured fitness program.

GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL:  At the shellhouse on Henley Island, Port Dalhousie off Main St.

There will be no in person registration this year.  Cash, cheque or money are accepted and made payable to the St. Catharines Rowing Club. There will be a $20 surcharge for those registering this way.  Refunds and NSF cheques will be subject to a $20 administration fee.

REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY:  All boys and girls ages 10--15 year of age, provided they are NOT participating in high school are invited to register.

SWIMMING TEST REQUIRED:  Every student registered for rowing must be tested for swimming capability. This swim test will consist of approximately three minutes of treading water and an endurance swim of 100 meters with no rest period. If a registrant does not take the test or does not pass the test, a full refund will be issued. For children that participated in previous years, the swim test will not have to be repeated. Test date and location information is yet to be determined.

IMPORTANT SAFETY MEASURES:  While out in shells all participants will be required to wear "Banana Type" life preservers which are provided. Safety is our number one priority and windy days are considered to be unsafe for rowers. We will endeavour to provide quality time for students on these days.

RACE & BBQ DAY:  On Thursday July 26, 2012 and August 30, 2012 we will be having races and a barbeque for the students. Parents are welcome to attend.

SPECTATORS: Parents are invited to stay and watch the program. Please observe the Island rules.
